Tallest Tree in the World

Redwoods,I recently came to understand, are among the world's tallest living trees. On an average they are 180 to 250 feet in height and 7 to 12 feet in diameter.Wow,that is some size. There is a redwood tree in northern california which is 330 feet high and the tallest known tree in the world.Any competition to the highrises in New York?.Had I known all this earlier,I would have made it a point to visit the taxodium family, during my umpteen visits to California. It is called redwood because of the red colour of its wood. Its grows along the west coast of the United States from Central California to Southern Oregon. So next time I plan a visit to USA a meeting with Sequoia Sempervirens is a must.
